About Ms. Courtney
Being in the education field for 20 years now, I have had the privilege of dipping into a variety of different types of experiences in the field. Over time, I have worked with infants to school age. Many of my years have been spent as a preschool teacher and building developmentally appropriate curriculum. I have a degree in Early Childhood and Youth Development, a bachelor's degree in Family Life Education, and a master's degree in Family Science. I am a Certified Family Life and Parent Coach as well as a Certified Family Life Educator. Training is important; not only is it education, but it keeps me up to date on all the latest practices and fun ways to work with children and families. I am certified in CPR, First Aid, SUID, AHT and obtain professional development annually. I belong to various different organizations such as The National Association for the Education of Young Children and National Council of Family Relations. Aside from Busy Buddies, I mentor teen moms through a program called Bright Beginnings. Mentoring consists of being supportive, encouraging, listening, offering parent coaching or other life skills to young mothers or expecting mothers. I also facilitate court ordered family visitations and provide parent education.
My family consists of my husband, our daughter, and twin boys. We enjoy walks, splash pads, parks, and staying busy with family and friends. On my own time, I enjoy painting, photography, and trying new restaurants.
